Chapter 757: Hardship and Breakthrough

“Words from me, the overlord of the world, are more effective than words from Gods!”
The man laughed with his head held up high in the sky, expressing his apparent arrogance.
“So your name is Hong Yan Jun Zhu. What a dominating sounding name.”
Ling Xian smiled. For some strange reason, the very first time he saw this man, he felt like they would get along. He also could sense that this person wasn’t someone who would break promises.
Though this feeling of his may not be all that accurate, he chooses to believe in him. Therefore, he continued to smile and speak, “Vey well. Since you have spoken the words, then there really is no more need to vow to heavens.”
“You aren’t scared that I’d break my promise?” Hong Yan Jun Zhu mockingly snickered.
“The relationships between humans can be very complicated, but sometimes, it can be very simple. I think I would get along with you. So I choose to believe you.”
The corner of Ling Xian’s lips curled up. “Plus, even if you don’t keep your promise, I don’t lose out on much. I will just pretend that I saved a son of a b*tch.”
“Haha, very well!”
Hong Yan Jun Zhu’s laughter was bright and his eyes were full of praise. “I have ruled the world for many years yet I still like you the best. You are someone I can be friends with!”
“You are the same. Very few people can be seen highly by me, Ling Xian.” Ling Xian softly grinned. His temperament was out of the world and similar to an immortal’s.
“Ling Xian… though the sound of it isn’t too special, if I chew on it, it’s an overbearing name as well.”
Hong Yan Jun Zhu still appeared impressed. “I look forward to the day you break these chains. However, it would be better if you start preparing to just sit here and chat with me.”
“That may not be the case.”
Ling Xian confidently smiled, his attractiveness lit up the entire universe. “I have made my bet so neither of us can look back now. It is time to see if I have the ability to break the chains.”
Then, he softly walked forward and arrived beside Hong Yan Jun Zhu.
“Though you are very talented, I do not believe you have the ability to break these two chains.”
Hong Yan Jun Zhu shook his head. “Don’t waste your time. Why not fetch me some good wine and good food. We can drink and chat. Isn’t that more fun?”
“That would be more fun. But if we can drink outside of this place, that would be even better, no?” Ling Xian continued to tease, “Alright, silence now. I am going to think this through now.”
Then, he no longer paid any attention to Hong Yan Jun Zhu and instead, shifted his gaze to the two chains.
The two chains were entirely black. On it, were carvings of the moon, star, sun, stream, river, sea, and other hundreds of symbols. They appeared ancient and mysterious.
The top of this chain – the place right above Hong Yan Jun Zhu’s shoulder, had a black hole. It looked like a place where the key goes.
“This chain…”
Ling Xian frowned because he saw right away that those symbols were not there for aesthetics, they were arrays.
Every single symbol represented a powerful array. In other words, there were at least hundreds of arrays. Based on his analysis, all these arrays were personally set up by a grandmaster!
Grandmaster!
That was a title only granted to those who have reached the peak of their path. It indicated next level cultivation and represented terror.
Thus, why wouldn’t Ling Xian be frowning?
“Chains that can trap even Hong Yan Jun Zhu… ignoring the physical properties of these chains, these hundreds of arrays alone are enough to give a grandmaster a headache.”
Ling Xian felt troubled. He didn’t think that he would, but he had underestimated these chains.
However, he was an array master after all. Being steps away from becoming a grandmaster, why would he get flustered now?
Even if these arrays were all set up by grandmasters, he had to give in his all to try and break them!
“Though these arrays are difficult, it’s not entirely impossible for me to break them.”
Mumbling, Ling Xian’s gaze turned determined. Then, he concentrated and pondered over how he can break this array.
However, he didn’t make a move.
The first reason was because of his cultivation level – he wasn’t high leveled enough to deal with the Dark Immortal Gold. The second reason was that he didn’t want to destroy such a valuable treasure.
Therefore, inside his mind, he was thinking about what he could do to break these arrays and he decided that he was going to create a key. It would be the gentlest method to open these chains.
Just like that, time passed by little by little.
Ling Xian was deep in thought and as he pondered, his forehead began to form beads of sweat.
What could he do? The arrays on the chains were far too difficult and there were far too many. Just like there are stars in the sky, they were limitless and profound. Even if a grandmaster was here personally to deal with this, they may not be able to succeed!
However, Ling Xian was no ordinary man and should not be measured by the normal standard.
Though compared to the arrays on these chains, his cultivation level was low. Don’t forget, he was the Immortal of Array’s inheritor.
All of his inheritance was inside his brain!
Therefore, as he started to forget his surroundings and forget himself in order to focus on breaking the arrays, that entire inheritance from the immortal appeared in his brain and released a mysterious wave of energy.
Then, he acted as if he had just opened a door to another world. His entire being turned more upbeat and his way of thinking became clear.
The originally extremely difficult and complex arrays suddenly turned very simple to him. Of course, it wasn’t that the arrays turned simple, it was that the ancient words in his brain helped him temporarily enter a state of mysteriousness.
It was an extreme state where those who practice arrays strive to be in!
This state is also known as the grandmaster realm!
Because he was in this state, Ling Xian’s way of thinking was becoming more and more clear. Within two short hours, he had figured out a way to solve all the arrays on his chains.
Yes, not just one of the arrays, all of the arrays!
This made him ecstatic. He felt extremely achieved.
He was originally thinking that he may need to seek help from the Immortal of Arrays. But who knew that a miracle happened and he was able to use his own strength to lift all the arrays. Why wouldn’t he feel achieved?
“The feeling I just had… it should be the legendary state where masters can see through everything. It should be the grandmaster realm I just felt. I cannot believe that the inheritance from the Immortal would grant me with such mysterious energy and allowed me to enter the grandmaster realm temporarily.”
Ling Xian revealed a soft smile that was full of joy.
After he figured out a way to break the various arrays, he had exited that state. However, the short amount of time he was in the realm had allowed him to poke a hole between the screen that was between the master and grandmaster level.
In other words, he was now a highly respectable grandmaster of arrays!!
To know that to become a grandmaster in any path was extremely difficult. Anyone who could reach the grandmaster level is without a doubt, an extremely talented and blessed cultivator!
The array grandmaster, in particular, is the hardest to achieve out of the three professions!
Countless array masters work their entire lives for this but still fail to enter this realm. Which one out of those who can enter the grandmaster realm is not a monster who has studied for hundreds of years?
Even the Heaven’s Favorites whose array abilities are extraordinary, find it hard to get to enter this realm without hundreds of years of practice.
Yet Ling Xian had gotten here after cultivating for merely 20 years. How unbelievable was this?
This was basically impossible to imagine!
If this news gets passed around, the entire Taoism community would grow clamorous! Especially in the arrays’ community, a great quake like never before would be created!
“The grandmaster realm… I cannot believe my trip would grant me such a surprise.”
The corner of Ling Xian’s lips curled up. He suddenly remembered something, something that he himself was a little shocked by.
Since he began his cultivation journey only a few decades have passed. The number of years he’s practiced arrays were even shorter. This meant he was the youngest grandmaster the community has ever seen!
In other words, without knowing it, he had set a new record and once again became a pioneer in a whole new field!
