Chapter 384: Clearing Out The Battleground, Negotiation
The eight Great Perfection deities’ conversation frightened the convergence of experts so badly that their insides were close to rupturing. Not daring to tarry, they made a run for it right away, afraid that they would be in deep trouble should they be even a moment too slow.
“Bastards!”
“Those eight goddamn bastards!”
The experts were truly filled with both fear and hatred. They had clearly already stayed a great distance away and had clearly already given up the fight for the Chief God divine core, yet the eight Great Perfection deities still didn’t intend to let them off. They were simply too vicious!
But now that things had come to such a pass, grumbling was already no longer of any use. All they could do was flee desperately, escape from this place as fast as they could, and secure their lives.
However, subsequent events proved that fleeing for one’s life while being pursued by eight Great Perfection deities was practically a mission on hell-mode.
The eight Great Perfection deities went on the offensive right away. They didn’t bother casting highly powerful, trump card-class attacks. Instead, they merely released their God’s Domains.
Buzz!
God’s Domain spread swiftly into the surroundings, instantly enveloping the whole area within ten million kilometers of where they were and directly trapping the fleeing experts within.
All the experts were trapped where they were, unable to move even a finger. No matter how fiercely they struggled or how hard they tried to launch powerful skills, it was simply futile!
Inside the Great Perfection deities’ God’s Domains, all of them had become lambs awaiting slaughter. The difference in strength between the two parties was simply too great!
“Spare me, sir!”
“Spare my life, sir!”
“Please let me off…”
The experts constantly begged for mercy. Among them were even people from the Angel Gods, the Colossal Dragon Gods, the Titan Gods, and the other few major godly clans, but… It was of no use.
So what even if they were fellow clansmen?
They were nothing in comparison to a Chief God divine core!
Once they became a Chief God, it wouldn’t matter in the slightest, even if the entire clan was wiped out. They could simply just create a whole new clan themselves!
“Die!”
The eight Great Perfection deities didn’t hold back at all. A thought flashed past their minds, and all the trapped experts exploded one after another into mists of blood.
Thousands upon thousands of experts perished in an instant!
The most astonishing thing was that every one of those that had managed to make it here was at least a high-level higher deity or an even stronger super expert. It was truly flabbergasting for so many powerful existences to perish in an instant!
“Isn’t that too vicious of them? They didn’t even spare their own kind!”
Meng Lei, who was hiding in the shadows, was secretly dumbstruck. The eight Great Perfection deities’ ruthlessness had astounded him. Their actions were practically perverse to the extreme!
An unconcerned Moro replied, “They are all Great Perfection deities. These are existences that truly stand at the pinnacle of the power pyramid. They act without reservations and are not inhibited by anything. What’s the big deal about killing a few fellow clansmen?”
Meng Lei broke into a slight frown and asked, “Won’t the Chief God of their clans punish them?”
There were quite a fair number of people from the ten major godly clans among the fatalities. Those were elder-class experts, after all. Wouldn’t the Chief Gods be furious that Great Perfection deities from the same clan had killed them just like that?
“Little fellow, a Chief God is a lofty presence high up above. Why would they bother themselves with such trivial matters?” Moro scoffed. “Besides, only the Great Perfection deities can truly catch the Chief Gods’ attention. To the Chief Gods, those so-called elders aren’t even good enough to be considered lowly ants!”
“Fine!”
Meng Lei shook his head. Then, his divine cognition quietly spread into the surroundings… All the super experts that had just been killed vanished the very next second.
Meng Lei had sent them all into the Tower of Time. That was a total of almost 10,000 super experts, after all. Their lives and assets were undoubtedly a hefty sum of riches. He mustn’t let them go to waste just like that.
“Who’s there?”
Such a large number of corpses disappearing right under their noses naturally caught the eight Great Perfection deities’ attention.
They weren’t concerned about the corpses. Rather, what had truly made them wary was the fact that someone had actually collected so many corpses without them even realizing anything. How strong must the intruder be, then?
Would they pose a risk to the Chief God divine core?
The Chief God divine core was the only thing that the eight Great Perfection deities were concerned about!
“Is it Coola? Or Noah? Since you’re already here, then stop skulking around!” said Armand Nidhogg, the Great Perfection Colossal Dragon God.
There were only a total of ten Great Perfection deities in the Earth Divine Realm, and it just so happened that each of them was from one of the ten major godly clans. Eight of them were already present, so Noah of the Eternal Gods and Coola of the Frost Gods were the only ones not there yet.
Therefore, Armand’s guess was that the newcomer was more likely than not the two of them. It was just a shame that no one responded to him.
“What? Not coming out? Are you still thinking of hiding in the shadows and profiting from the situation as a third party?”
Armand was rather displeased now. He said, “I’ll give you one more chance. Get the hell out here now. Otherwise, don’t blame us if we team up against you!”
Buzz!
The air trembled lightly, and then someone quietly appeared. The eight Great Perfection deities’ electrifying gazes instantly fell onto the newcomer, but what surprised them was that said newcomer was neither Coola nor Noah. Rather, it was a fresh face that they had never once seen before.
“Who are you?” asked Jager Raphael, the Great Perfection Angel God.
He had sixteen pairs of wings of light on his back, and he gave off a gentle and peaceful holy glow all around him.
“Sorry to disturb you, everyone!”
The newcomer was none other than Meng Lei. He said, “I’m just an idle onlooker passing by the area. Go ahead and fight for whatever it is that you need to fight for. You don’t need to bother yourselves with me.”
“Die!”
Armand didn’t bother saying any superfluous nonsense after hearing what Meng Lei said. He dealt a palm strike in mid-air, intending to wipe out Meng Lei straight away.
An idle onlooker?
They didn’t need idle onlookers here!
So, he could just go to hell!
“Hah, coming to blows the moment you have a disagreement? What a foul temper you have!” Meng Lei shook his head with a soft chuckle. Then, he casually dealt a palm strike with his right palm and met Armand’s attack head-on.
“You’re courting death!”
Armand let out an icy snort inwardly at the sight of how Meng Lei had so effortlessly parried his attack. A hint of anger flashed across his eyes. Apart from the lofty Chief Gods high up above, no one in the whole of the Earth Divine Realm had ever dared to look down on him like that before. Meng Lei was the very first!
“Go to hell!”
Armand increased his attack force, determined to smash Meng Lei into a bloody pulp with one palm strike. However, as the two palms struck each other, Armand felt as if he had crashed right into a primordial divine mountain. Intense pain traveled up his arm from his right palm, and then his entire right arm was blasted apart.
“Aahhh!”
Armand let out a shrill scream as he was sent flying right out like a launched cannon. To the seven Great Perfection deities’ horror, they saw that all that was left of Armand’s right arm now was just ghastly white bones. All flesh and blood on the arm had been completely blasted into a mist of blood!
“How can this be?”
“Who exactly is he?”
“Since when was there an expert like him in the Divine Realm?”
For a moment there, shock and horror filled the seven Great Perfection deities’ eyes as they stared at Meng Lei. As a Great Perfection deity of Nidhogg Colossal Dragon Gods, Armand’s body was incredibly strong and robust. Yet in comparison to that fellow currently standing in front of them, it seemed like even his body was far too inadequate?
“I’d thought that you were much stronger than that because of how arrogantly you had spoken! You aren’t that strong, after all,” remarked a fairly unimpressed Meng Lei with a shake of his head.
“W-who exactly are you?”
Alarm and fury came over Armand as he steadied himself, his eyes fixed on Meng Lei.
“An idle onlooker passing by,” repeated Meng Lei. Then he said, “So, are you guys fighting or not? If you aren’t, then I’m leaving.”
What does whether or not you’re leaving have anything to do with whether or not we’re fighting?
The eight Great Perfection deities couldn’t help but diss Meng Lei inwardly. However, none of them answered him. At the sight, Meng Lei shook his head and said, “Since you aren’t fighting, then I’m leaving.”
Then, he teleported in front of the Chief God divine core, took it, and got ready to leave. This greatly enraged the eight Great Perfection deities, and they roared, ” You can leave if you want, but leave the Chief God divine core behind!”
Whoosh!
The eight Great Perfection deities instantly fanned out and surrounded Meng Lei on all sides, preventing him from leaving.
“What’s the matter?”
Meng Lei raised an eyebrow.
“Mister, you may leave, but you have to leave the Chief God divine core behind.”
Miles Dougherty, the Great Perfection Fire Phoenix God, said icily, “That’s ours!”
Chester Dawson, the Great Perfection Titan God, also barked, “Put down the Chief God divine core!”
“Yours?” Meng Lei couldn’t help but laugh. He said, “I was clearly the one that placed this thing here as bait. How come it has become yours now? What a joke!”
“You placed it here?”
“As bait?”
“Could it be that—”
The eight Great Perfection deities’ expressions changed drastically.
“Forget it. I’ll drop the act and negotiate with you instead.”
