The Chronicles of the Immortal God - Chapter 243
Chapter 243: So, tell me your problem
Fang Lin could only stop himself from almost crying as he realized that he had made the wrong decision. By disposing the King Piece, he was able to remove 2x limitation. But now he had no way to dispel attacks by the Queen’s boon.
If the practitioner holding the Queen was weak, Fang Lin had no qualms about it. But he just saw someone with a Queen summoning a freaking meteor!
Fang Lin was sure that his original form can fight off against Princess Lilliana’s ‘Fallen Star’. But he was not sure if only his Yang Body fights.
And Princess Lilliana was only a Half-step Mana Core Practitioner. What if a Mana Core Practitioner got the Queen? If Fang Lin had the King, he can have no problems with it. But Fang Lin was spurned on by his pride, making him throw away his only defense!
“Fudge!” Fang Lin thought dully to himself.
After seeing Li Min’s failed stunt, nobody else tried to throw away their piece. Fang Lin sat far away, oozing an aura that forced the others to stay back.
Fang Lin tried asking the proctor if he can get a new piece if he defeats his next opponent. To Fang Lin’s chagrin, the proctor’s reply was,
“You cannot, since you announced that you will fight without using any pieces. Good luck on surviving!”
This gave Fang Lin no choice but to start observing the fights that happened next. With the amount of the disciples that will fight, it might take around two hours just to finish the preliminary matches.
The proctor said that the second leg of the battle stage will happen in the next morning. Fang Lin perked his ears up as he heard some hints of relief at the proctor’s voice.
“If the second leg of the battle stage was tomorrow, that means that the Immortal Continent Branch was not destroyed!” Fang Lin thought merrily to himself. “If it was destroyed, the proctor will have no choice but to announce it to us. But if it was not destroyed, that meant the sect might still be invaded tomorrow. If that’s the scenario, it was no wonder that the proctor wanted us to stay here until tomorrow!”
Fang Lin’s sour mood lightened up a little from this realization. This wiped away his pessimist outlook as he watched the next matches.
The matches that happened next can be categorized into three things:
Exciting like Tang Ya’s match where she faced off with another close-combatant holding a pawn. They exchanged countless moves in a minute, with both of them hardly damaging each other. That was when Tang Ya’s opponent decided to use the Pawn Piece. Tang Ya responded in kind, using her Pawn Piece at the same instance as her opponent.
Both of them used the current strongest attack that they can use as they sent it hurtling towards each other.
Since they could not dodge and only defend, Tang Ya and her opponent decided to use their attack as their defense.
Tang Ya’s greatsword and her opponent’s bat collided against each other, producing terrifying ripples that can be felt even outside the stage.
At the end, Tang Ya’s arms were both damaged as they hung limply from her sides. Her greatsword lay on the ground as she panted heavily. Despite her heavy injuries, she still managed to stand up while her opponent lay unconscious.
This made the proctor declare Tang Ya as the winner.
The second type of matches that Fang Lin saw were the boring ones. One example was Shi Poyun’s match. Shi Poyun’s opponent unluckily had a King Piece. Shi Poyun of course took advantage of it.
He flew straight in the air, around 20 meters above the stage. He conjured a bow, which he used to shoot wind arrows. His opponent tried to dodge it, but the arrows moved by their own, ensuring that the opponent could not dodge it.
Shi Poyun then used his Bishop Boon twice on his last two arrows. With the distance between them, the two arrows easily tore through the opponent’s shield, piercing through his body.
Just like what Fang Lin said, that match was boring. Even Shi Poyun did not look happy with his victory.
The last and the least type of match that Fang Lin saw were the terrifying ones. By terrifying, Fang Lin meant one fighter using just one move to utterly decimate the opponent. Aside from Fang Lin and Princess Lilliana, Fang Lin was only able to identify 8 winners who were in a terrifying match.
Just like what Fang Lin predicted, the first leg of the battle stage ended after 2 hours. Now, the winners will spend their time to recuperate and hone their techniques for tomorrow.
Fang Lin approached Shi Poyun and Tang Ya, who was still wincing as the brat removed the cast on her arms. Tang Ya already drank an elixir earlier which fortunately was able to heal her injuries. Although it will still take her 2 more hours to fully recover.
Tang Ya gave Fang Lin a sharp glare, which elicited a flinch from him.
“So what do you want huh? Trying to apologize now?”
“Well-” Fang Lin tried to say something, but someone approached them, rendering his speech void.
The girl with the mask was walking towards them, with her boots making unsettling clicking sounds.
“…….” Fang Lin and Princess Lilliana stared at each other, without anyone of them saying a word.
“8 pm. My room. Come alone. I will wait.” Shockingly, Princess Lilliana uttered these words to Fang Lin!
Fang Lin could only stare with his mouth agape as Princess Lilliana walked back towards her delegates.
Not only Fang Lin was surprised. Everyone who heard what the princess said were also at the same state of shock.
It was Tang Ya who broke off the stunned silence.
“Go die!” She said as she kicked Fang Lin on his rear. The kick of course did not hurt, but it still managed to make Fang Lin feel humiliated.
Fang Lin looked around him, trying to ask for any assistance. But what he got were only jealous and scorning looks. They clearly felt the same as Tang Ya.
“….” Fang Lin was about to bemoan his fate when he received something that made him forget his situation.
“Hey boy, I need to leave first. Take care of Tang Ya ok?” Fang Lin said as he fled the area of the battle stage quickly. He continuously ran until he was able to find a secluded area. He looked around him, and when he noticed nobody looking, her started setting up talismans around him.
These talismans were given to him by Mina, which can block eavesdropping even from Fifth Stage Practitioners!
As for why Fang Lin did this, it was because of what he was about to do next.
He’s going to contact his master Wang Hao.
He wanted to talk to his master regarding Fang Yu’s situation at the planet she was in.
After Fang Lin and Fang Yu reached the Second Stage, there were also some improvements with his link with Fang Yu. Before, sensations like pain and lust felt by Fang Yu can be also felt by Fang Lin. But now, Fang Lin can selectively turn this shared sensation off. This was a great help to them especially in combat where none of them could afford to be distracted.
Fang Lin turned off this connection with Fang Yu just before he had his match.
But even though he cut off the sensation link, Fang Lin can still process all the information that Fang Yu received. And just like before, the information sharing happens in real time.
Right now, Fang Yu just finished talking with Genie about the 4 Djinns that were about to ambush them. Fang Lin immediately knew that he had to use the new bloodline ability he gained and Wang Hao’s help to defeat the Djinns.
It was a good thing for Fang Lin that Wang Hao left him a way to communicate.
Fang Lin held the ero book that Wang Hao gave him. Wang Hao said that as long as Fang Lin activates it with his qi, he can communicate with Wang Hao, no matter where he is. Of course the prerequisite of it was that Wang Hao was not busy.
Fang Lin clutched the book tightly as he waited for Wang Hao’s voice.
What he heard however were melodious moans coming from the book. Fang Lin flushed and was about to throw the book away when he heard his Master’s voice coming through.
“Hey Fang Lin! Why are you talking now? Can’t you see I’m busy?” To Fang Lin’s chagrin, he can still hear the pleased moans even when Wang Hao was talking!
“Master, I think you have to cut off your play with those two girls of yours later. Fang Yu and I needs your help.” Fang Yu said as he tried to make himself sound calm. “Our lives are more important than your flings right?”
“Ok. Ok. Give me 30 seconds first.” Louder moans then echoed across the book as Fang Lin realized that Wang Hao intends to finish whatever he was doing in 30 seconds!
30 seconds passed by, and Fang Lin heard 2 melodious shouts reaching the heavens drilling against his ear.
Fang Lin could only stare blankly ahead with empty eyes as his Master talked to him once more.
“So, tell me your problem.”
“…”
