Chapter 56: Cheng Yang’s Strange Temper
Xiao Ying surveyed the scene with a smile.
Shen Meijia looked at Xiao Ying and said hesitantly, “Xiao Ying, how are you getting home? Why don’t you let my dad drive you? I also have a problem to ask you about anyway.”
Shen Dazhuang immediately patted his chest. “I promise I’ll get you home safely.”
Xiao Ying naturally knew that this was Shen Meijia’s excuse out of consideration for her dignity.
Xiao Ying looked towards a car that was parked in an inconspicuous corner and said, “Thank you, Xiao Jia and Uncle, but there’s no need. My brother is here to pick me up.”
Shen Meijia and Shen Dazhuang’s minds were only set at rest after they watched Xiao Ying get into the car.
Xiao Ying sat in the car and waved at the two of them.
Shen Meijia waved back happily.
Only after the car had gone far enough away, Shen Dazhuang revealed a puzzled expression.
Shen Meijia asked, “Daddy, what are you looking at? We should go.”
Shen Dazhuang nodded and let Shen Meijia sit in the car.
After starting the car, Shen Dazhuang asked, “Which family is your friend from?”
Shen Meijia said, “She’s from the Xiao family.” After some consideration, she decided not to reveal the fact that Xiao Ying was chased out.
She felt that this was her friend’s private matter, and she shouldn’t discuss it behind her back.
Shen Dazhuang nodded thoughtfully.
Cheng Yang asked casually, “Was that girl your friend?”
Xiao Ying smiled and nodded. “Yeah, Xiao Jia is a good person.”
Cheng Yang’s expression was indifferent and he said nothing.
Xiao Ying fiddled with the strap on her bag.
After a while, Cheng Yang asked again, “What happened at school today?”
Xiao Ying thought for a moment and said, “We ate scrambled eggs with tomatoes and sweet and sour pork for lunch today, but it wasn’t as delicious as the one the auntie makes at home. The portion was also very small, so I’m not even full yet.”
Xiao Ying rubbed her stomach, slightly troubled.
Cheng Yang’s eyes darkened as he said, “I’ll get the auntie to cook something delicious for you when we get back.”
Xiao Ying nodded but didn’t say anything.
Cheng Yang couldn’t help but ask again, “Is there anything else?”
Xiao Ying took a while to realize that Cheng Yang was still asking the same question as before.
She felt that Cheng Yang was paying too much attention to her school life, but she didn’t think much of it and replied, “No, nothing else.”
Hearing this, Cheng Yang’s expression turned cold.
Xiao Ying was baffled, not knowing what Cheng Yang was angry about.
Soon, they reached home. Cheng Yang’s expression was ice-cold, but he still patiently opened the car door for Xiao Ying. When she got out of the car, he helped carry her bag and closed the car door for her.
If Cheng Yang had not walked forward quickly after doing all of this and ignored Xiao Ying, she would not even have realized that he was still angry.
Xiao Ying watched Cheng Yang’s retreating back and laughed.
It was the first time she had seen Cheng Yang throw a tantrum like this, and it was certainly a new experience.
Cheng Yang went straight to the study while the auntie stood downstairs, feeling a little at a loss.
Seeing Xiao Ying in the back, she heaved a sigh of relief and asked, “Miss Xiao Ying, what happened to Mr. Cheng?”
Xiao Ying smiled and said, “It’s fine. He’s just angry.”
The auntie still looked a little nervous. Xiao Ying grinned and went forward. She pulled her and said, “Auntie, I didn’t eat enough at school this afternoon. Can you cook something delicious for me?”
Upon hearing that Xiao Ying was not full, the auntie immediately threw her panic to the back of her mind. She hurriedly said, “How pitiful of our little princess. What does our little princess want to eat? I’ll make it for you.”
After spending some time together over the past few days, the auntie had really taken a liking to Xiao Ying.
She had been the nanny for so many wealthy families, but she had never met such a sensible and obedient little miss like Xiao Ying.
Xiao Ying smiled sweetly and said, “I want to eat sweet and sour pork. The lunch at school today was not as delicious as the one Auntie made. I’ve been thinking about your cooking all day.”
These words made the auntie laugh loudly, her heart warm.
Xiao Ying followed the auntie and watched her cook, praise flowing endlessly from her mouth.
