The new chapter of the puppet play had yet to begin; it was currently an interlude.
Barfiment and Minotaur, pulled together once more by a strange waltz.
They danced with a certain grace, if one could overlook the bones and chunks of flesh and blood that littered their bodies. Of course, this was only from a distance, a closer look would blind anyone.
“Urdixinos, help us kill him!”
“Yes, it’s him! Dressed in colors bright as a mating flamingo, he’s the one controlling this play; kill him, and this damned stage will disappear!”
The two great demons, enraged, shouted as they danced to the waltz.
“Such noise! Stop drooling over each other like slugs, you’re insulting my art!” Although Mu Ying’s forehead was covered in sweat, he couldn’t help retorting to the two demons who had accused him of looking like a flamingo.
“Kill him, I want to drink his brains, pull his soul into my filthy black realm!” Barfiment bellowed angrily.
Urdixinos shook its tail, and a jingling bell sound rang out, “Don’t rush, I’ll kill him. But, before I do, I need to commit your… hmm, interesting forms to memory. That way, I’ll have much to talk about at the next meeting in the Void Tower.”
Urdixinos’s words ignited a fierce rage in the two great demons.
“Alright, alright, I was just making a little joke, why get angry?” Urdixinos turned its head, then looked at Mu Ying: “Now, I’ll help you put an end to him.”
Urdixinos’s demeanor shifted instantly from nonchalant to serious, an invisible aura of majesty emanating from it. It shone with a golden light as dazzling as the Sun God.
Urdixinos stepped forward, the ringing of its tail’s bell accumulating oppressive pressure in everyone’s hearts.
A battle seemed imminent.
Monty glanced at Sanders. Sanders was still quite pale, his breath hovering between firm and faint. It seemed that for now, Sanders couldn’t be sent to confront this formidable enemy.
After contemplating, Monty whispered softly, casting a Spell of Whispering that landed behind Frostbite. In a frigid ice lake covered in bone-chilling frost, a man sitting in meditation opened his eyes.
“Nereus, it’s your turn to enter.” Monty’s voice reached the man’s ears.
He stood up, originally naked, but as he stepped out of the ice lake, mist began to form. When the mist cleared, he was already on the shore, draped in a pure white cloak.
As Urdixinos moved forward, Nereus also started walking slowly towards it.
Nereus had golden curls that shimmered like the blazing sun and tranquil forest-green eyes. Every inch of his features seemed as if chiseled by a blade, exquisite and perfect.
He was a being who could be sculpted into an idol for worship.
He was Nereus, a True Knowledge Wizard from Song of the Deep Sea, and a stalwart force of the Yimagan line.
Nereus reached the center of the battlefield, casting a fathomless gaze at Sanders before turning his attention to Urdixinos.
Urdixinos, upon seeing Nereus, sensed that to deal with Mu Ying, it had to first contend with this pretty boy.
Their eyes met across the distance, sparks flying even before the commencement of hostilities.
As the battle intent of both sides escalated, everyone awaited the beginning of the fight.
However, just then, another central figure seemed unwilling to have his stage stolen by Nereus’s brilliance. Mu Ying suddenly spoke up: “The new puppet play is about to commence. Do you know what, apart from conflict, catches the eyes and captivates audiences in a drama?”
Mu Ying’s sudden speech once again drew everyone’s attention.
“It’s love!” Mu Ying, lost in his own world, gazed dreamily towards the illusory stage: “In a drama, love isn’t just about the fierce clash of rhythms, but also about the bone-deep, lingering separations, and of course, there’s one crucial act that can’t be missed…”
Mu Ying’s eyes sparkled as he looked at Minotaur and Barfiment, evoking a sinister smile amidst their grotesque expressions.
Some began to guess at Mu Ying’s thoughts, their expressions turning to horror.
Urdixinos, originally planning on having a proper confrontation with Nereus, was completely captivated by Mu Ying’s words, its eyes gleaming. Were any familiar demons present, they would recognize this gleam signified: anticipation.
Minotaur and Barfiment seemed to have a premonition and screamed frantically: “Stop, Urdixinos kill him now, kill him quickly!”
However, Urdixinos now ignored them completely, even going so far as to casually clean its ears.
“Damn it, Urdixinos, once I get out, I will kill you!”
“`
When he caught everyone’s attention, Mu Ying proclaimed loudly:
“Indeed, what is never to be missed from the repertoire is the passionate, intense kiss brimming with deep love! The new chapter of the puppet show, with love and fervent kisses, is about to commence!”
Accompanied by Mu Ying’s excited tone, the huge puppet Phantom Shadows in the sky began to move again as the mysterious smile and singing started simultaneously, with the lines being pulled frantically.
“Who are you kissing? The eyeball of love or the heart full of sorrow on the plate…”
As the song began, two large Demons on the stage started to writhe. With flickering light and shadow, a new scene unfolded on the stage.
Everyone, even Urdixinos and Nereus who were in confrontation, glanced at the stage from the corner of their eyes.
The opening was a wild kissing scene that made one want to gouge out their own eyes. However, it wasn’t a tender kiss, but one creature biting at the other’s eyeball, while the other gnawed on the other’s flesh.
This bloody scene was embellished with the puppet show’s bizarre music and deliberately scattered rose petals.
At that moment, Angel, still contemplating how to convey the message, had not noticed that behind him, on a tree branch where Fafnir had been enjoying her wine, her hand suddenly stiffened.
She had been looking up with interest at the stage in the sky, but upon seeing the latest scene, Fafnir felt as though her eyes had been smeared with chili oil.
She lowered her head, not wanting to watch, but her curiosity itched, and she couldn’t help looking up again.
“Tsk tsk tsk—” each of her ‘tsk’ carried multiple, progressively intense emotions, starting with disgust and aversion, moving to grudging tolerance, and ending with relish as she grew accustomed.
“Lord Fafnir, what’s wrong?” Angel turned back and looked at Fafnir with confusion.
With a profoundly meaningful tone, Fafnir replied, “Human creativity truly broadens one’s horizons.”
Human creativity? A row of question marks formed in Angel’s mind; he had no idea what Fafnir was talking about. Oh well, she probably saw some human battle technique again, right? When Angel first entered the Wizards’ Realm, he too was astounded by the various ways of wizard combat.
The new chapter of Mu Ying’s puppet show captivated almost everyone’s gaze, whether in the sky or underground, and even Nitotipu in the midst of battle with Samantha and Kanter within the rain clouds paused, unable to bear looking directly.
“Urdixinos, what are you doing, you stupid fool?” Nitotipu couldn’t help yelling inwardly, while simultaneously, she flicked a drop of rain infused with a message into the distant darkness:
—Yadasai, hurry up and rescue those two idiots whose heads are filled with nothing but muscle.
Nitotipu knew very well that given Urdixinos’s penchant for watching the spectacle, it would probably not think about rescuing anyone. If the stage above was a theater play, it might even properly buy a ticket to watch.
Although Yadasai and Urdixinos had become adversaries due to the existence of Adar, there was no other choice now. If the two large Demons got caught up in the puppet show, even if the human eradication plan succeeded, those two fools probably wouldn’t be able to escape.
In the sky, the grotesque puppet show continued. Just as Nitotipu guessed, Urdixinos wasn’t in a rush to act; instead, it was focusing on enjoying the show.
Its thoughts were simple, Jupiter was adjusting the device within the Void Tower, hoping the Void disturbances would precisely strike where Frostbite was located. Such adjustments took time, and Urdixinos’s reason for being here and blocking the humans was actually to prevent Frostbite from leaving its current coordinates before the onset of the Void disturbances.
In other words, it only needed to buy time until Jupiter’s adjustments were complete. As for how to buy time… wasn’t it doing just that?
However, what Urdixinos didn’t expect was that while it was buying time, Mu Ying had purposely made Chapter Six so “intense” also as a means to delay. He needed the puppet show to move into Chapter Seven in order to introduce a new supporting role within the story!
As time passed, Mu Ying’s eyes grew brighter.
The Chapter Six of the puppet show was finally approaching its end. When the sound of the music box colliding merged with the eerie vocal tones of the white puppets, “Who Are You Kissing” reached its final act.
The two large Demons controlled by the silk threads were now ravaged, their bodies full of bloody pits and holes, all the marks of the other’s teeth.
What they hated the most was naturally Mu Ying, who had manipulated them into committing such shameful acts, and the next one they detested was Urdixinos, who had stood by as if nothing was wrong, fully watching their “performance”. If not for the circumstances, they even suspected Urdixinos would applaud and cheer.
Perhaps the hatred spread to the silk threads because, in the final scene of the sixth chapter, the threads in the sky manipulated them into weird postures, looking towards Urdixinos:
“Yi Yi Ya Ya—”
“Who are you kissing? Aside from the decrepit bull’s horns and the filthy shadow, who else?”
“Hehe, there’s also the golden little lion.”
As the words fell, the fine white threads traversed the Void, descending from the heavens. Before Urdixinos could react, the threads bound it and pulled it into the stage with lightning speed.
When Urdixinos came to its senses, two large Demons with resentment brimming in their eyes surrounded it.
“Golden little lion, you’ve finally arrived—”
